Genshin Impact: The Stone Beasts, Like Ghouls Seated Full Quest Walkthrough
The Stone Beasts, Like Ghouls Seated Genshin Impact quest guide: solve palace puzzles, melt ice, fight Zver, and claim the Eye of Graeae fragment.
The Stone Beasts, Like Ghouls Seated is one of those Genshin Impact quests that starts as a simple walk through a palace and slowly turns into a full-blown puzzle gauntlet. Before a player can even think about triggering it, they first have to finish the To Gaze Upon the Dreaming Pale Crown mission, since both are part of the On One Side a Palace, On the Other a Tomb questline. And that questline is not optional, by the way, because it is the only route to collecting every fragment of the Eye of Graeae.

So, what exactly does this quest ask for? Quite a lot, actually. Here is the full objective list, laid out the way a player will actually encounter it.

| 13 | Find a way to open the gates |
| 14 | Ride up in the elevator |
| 15 | Fight Zver |
| 16 | Go to the Hvergelmir |
| 17 | Obtain the part of the Eye of Graeae's body |

Entering the Palace and Opening the Gates
Walking up the main stairs leads straight into a wall of ice. The door is frozen solid, so a detour is mandatory. Players should follow the quest marker as the Eye of Graeae pulls them along the outer wall until an opening appears.
That opening is sealed by Prime Ice, which means the Prime Ice Construct build menu is the answer. Break it, walk into the yard, then immediately turn right, then left, and head up the stairs until a door blocks the path. Push it open, and there is another closed door waiting behind it. Classic.
The Statue of the Cemetery Guardian Puzzle
This is where things get genuinely fiddly. The first statue puzzle has a few simple rules:
-
Destroy the Cube Prime Ice Construct directly behind the statue — not the other one.
-
Stand in front of the statue and push it toward the square where it belongs.
-
Keep the direction clean; pushing sideways ruins the setup.
If it goes wrong, don't sweat it. A player can block the wrong paths with Cubes to fix the route, or simply exit the game and reload to reset the statue's position.

Shooting the Prototype Kresnik's Torch
Once inside the magnificent hallway, look up. A hanging Prototype Kresnik's Torch sits above the room. Shooting it flips it into the Heat State, melting every chunk of ice in the chamber — and, of course, summoning a wave of enemies. Clear them out, then approach the throne and place the Eye of Graeae on its port.
Before leaving, players should grab the Firearm Blueprint sitting on the giant chair. It rewards the Gunsight accessory, which is easy to miss in the chaos.
Solving the Royal Hall Door Puzzle
This is the longest segment of the quest, and it involves manipulating the torch state, building ice cubes, and shoving a statue across two floors. The short version looks like this:
-
Switch the Prototype Kresnik's Torch to Cold State.
-
Melt the ice holding up the statue with a Basic Heat Source, then remove the construct.
-
Build a cube to create a route to the opening.
-
Remove the default Cubes blocking the way.
-
Push the statue onto the cube, then into the hole.
From there, the statue travels across a bridge from Room A to Room B. An ice spout is holding a platform up, so melt it with a Basic Heat Source and remove the Prime Ice Construct. Push the statue toward the bookshelf, then to where the platform used to be. Switch the torch to Heat State, then back to Cold State, and climb the stairs to reach the statue again. Push it to the second floor, into the corner of the room, then down the slope into the hole.
Finally, both statues get pushed onto the squares where they belong. It sounds tedious, and honestly, it is — but the door opens once it is done.
Continue Onward and the Suspended Tower
Behind the throne is another room, and the bridge inside it collapses the moment a player tries to cross. Use the blue sparkle to reach the upper section, ride the elevator up, beat the enemies on the bridge, then take another lift.
Before passing through the Suspended Tower, the solid ice ahead has to melt. Rotate the Suspended Tower first, then shoot the Prototype Kresnik's Torch to switch it into Heat State.

Eventually a door appears that refuses to open because the switch is frozen underwater. Build a Cube Prime Ice Construct on the leaking pipe to plug it, letting the heat do its job and melt the ice. Open the door and ride the lift somewhere higher up.
Opening the Gates and Fighting Zver
To finish Find a way to open the gates, push the statue onto its pedestal:
-
Rotate the tower until the heat pipe appears, melting the ice.
-
Rotate the tower again to remove the heat pipe. The ice refreezes, but the obstacle ice is gone.
-
Push the statue toward the pedestal.
With the gate open, ride the elevator up and prepare for Zver. Bring a solid team, because this boss does not play around. Once Zver falls, use the Link Mechanism to travel to the Hvergelmir and claim the part of the Eye of Graeae's body.
That final pickup wraps up The Stone Beasts, Like Ghouls Seated and closes out the On One Side a Palace, On the Other a Tomb questline entirely. 🏛️❄️
